LDWF AGENTS CITE DENHAM SPRINGS WOMAN FOR RELEASING MONITOR LIZARD

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Denham Springs woman today, Aug. 12, for allegedly releasing a lizard into the wild in Livingston Parish.

Agents cited Jennifer Myers, 34, for releasing a monitor lizard out of a window of her residence in Denham Springs.

Agents were alerted about a social media post on Aug. 11 that alleged Myers had illegally released a monitor lizard. Agents started an investigation and were able to contact Myers this afternoon at her residence where she admitted to releasing the lizard.

Illegally releasing a monitor lizard brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. If anyone comes into contact with the monitor lizard, please contact LDWF at 1-800-442-2511.
